FADE IN:

EXT. SPACE

OPENING CRAWL

The Empire was everywhere and growing stronger with each passing day. As the Clone Army of the former Republic gradually began dying off, new conscripts were needed to fill their ranks.

With the new troops came new weapons and armor, and the Emperor’s increased thrust to dominate more worlds and bring them under his iron fist.

One such world, MANDALORE, is the most recent conquest. But the inhabitants of this planet, warriors in nature, and the same blood that trained the Emperor’s army, weren’t about to go down without a fight…

EXT. MANDALOR FORREST – NIGHT

A large communications disk is seen towering above the trees.

A small ship cruises just above the trees as well and settles in a small clearing.

A lone figure exits the craft and heads towards the disk through the trees.

EXT. IMPERIAL OUTPOST – SAME

Two STORM TROOPERS and two BIKER SCOUTS are patrolling the area. Off to one side are two speeder bikes and behind them is the opening to the bunker.

A rustling is heard nearby and one of the Scouts takes notice.

SCOUT 1

Did you hear something?

SCOUT 2

Nah. It’s probably just some creature out for a midnight snack.

SCOUT 1

Yeah, you’re probably right. I just hope it’s not us.

SCOUT 2

Would you quit your whining?

SCOUT 1

Hey, I’m just making an observation. This is my first night on patrol out here and I don’t want to end up on some beast’s menu –

There is a definite clanking that get’s both scout’s attention.

SCOUT 1

Now, don’t tell me that was just some creature.

SCOUT 2

No…that’s something to be worried about.

The scouts head in the direction of the noise, which is where their speeders are. They look and see that one of them has had its power converter ripped out. The other’s front stabilizer bar is missing.

SCOUT 1

That ain’t no creature doing that.

SCOUT 2

I think you’re right. I’ll ca-

His word is cut off with a gurgling noise as the missing stabilizer bar returns…through Scout 2’s chest.

Scout 1 turns just in time to see the flash of a Mandalorian’s T-visor, but, he has no time to react. His helmet flies off his head and lands behind him; the front half is in two pieces through the middle as if it was cut by something.

Scout 1 falls face first to the ground as the Mando, holding a Beskad, turns toward the bunker.

The two troopers are still standing guard at the bunker door. Suddenly, one falls, his helmet’s eye socket sparking after being hit with explosive darts from the Mando’s wrist gauntlet. And as the other tries to run over and activate an alarm, he falls as well. The Beskad is protruding from his chest.

The Mando presses a button on his gauntlet.

MANDO

(subtitled)

I’m going in. Follow me.

The Mando easily opens the door to the bunker and enters.

INT: BUNKER

The Mando slowly makes his way towards the interior of the bunker.

As he rounds a corner, he is met by a small squad of Imperials – two more storm troopers, two Guards, and two Gunners.

In no time, he manages to take out all of them.

As he finishes, three more Mandos, Axon Kor, Drak Fiurr, and Cyern Bahr, enter the bunker.

CYERN

Haar'chak!, Tracy'uur. You could’ve left something for me.

TRACY’UUR

Sorry, vod. You know how I am.

CYERN

Yeah. That’s what I’m afraid of. Still…

TRACY’UUR

Why waste the ammo?

CYERN

Because it’s cheap, and insurance isn’t.

TRACY’UUR

Fine. If it makes you feel any better, go on and blast away.

CYERN

(shrugs)

Myeh, I’ll do it when we leave.

AXON

Gentlemen, if you don’t mind. I have a lot of work to do, so please move.

DRAK

Don’t get excited, Axon! We’re all in this together, aren’t we?

AXON

A very verd’ika thing to say, evaar’la solus (young one). You remind me of a Jetii (Jedi).

DRAK

Hey! Don’t start with me, mir’sheb (smartass)! If it wasn’t for me, your lift would never have made it here.

Tracy’uur’s beskad smacks the back of Drak’s helmet.

TRACY’UUR

Copaani mirshmure'cye, vod? (are you looking for a smack in the face?)

DRAK

Alright! Alright. I’m sorry.

AXON

Now, if we can continue, I would like to get out of this utyc palon (slime hole) as soon as possible.

CYERN

And then it’s my turn to have fun.

Tracy’uur resheaths his beskad.

One by one everyone removes their helmets and place them on a nearby table.

Cyern activates a communications device on his gauntlet.

CYERN

Bralov (success), Ver’alor.

JAIDEN TURR’N’s image appears in holographic form above Cyern’s gauntlet.

JAIDEN

Good. You know what to do.

AXON

This would be so much easier if I had an R2 unit.

JAIDEN

I have confidence in your abilities, ner’vod. When you finish, set the charges and get back to the ship. Oh, and Cyern, this time be sure to give us all enough time to get out of here.

CYERN

Elek, Ver’alor.

The image disappears.

CYERN

He never lets me have any fun.

DRAK

Where’s the fun in almost getting blown up?

CYERN

It’s the thrill, vod! Not knowing if you’re going to live or die at any moment. Plus I always set the timer short to make sure those osik troopers can’t stop it after we leave.

Behind them, Axon has been hard at work.

AXON

I’m in.

TRACY’UUR

Jat’ca’nara (Right on time)!

Suddenly, an alarm goes off.

CYERN

What the haran is that?

AXON

Security protocols. Nothing to worry about.

CYERN

Are you sure?

The alarm shuts off.

AXON

Yes.

CYERN

So how long until I get to light it up?

AXON

Give me just a few moments to find the – Ah. There it is. Get started setting your charges and I’ll be done here in no time.

Drak goes off with Cyern after they both replace their helmets.

Tracy’uur stays with Axon.

TRACY’UUR

So what do you think of the new guy?

AXON

Other than his technical skills for fixing my lift, I try not to. But, that’s only because he hasn’t been around much yet. Give him time. He just joined the clan.

TRACY’UUR

He’s got a lot of spirit, I’ll give him that. But he’d better watch it, or that will get him killed.

INT. CORRIDOR

Cyern and Drak are setting charges in various places.

CYERN

So what’s your story, kid?

DRAK

What do you mean?

CYERN

What do you mean what do I mean? I asked a simple question.

DRAK

Don’t get excited, alright? There’s not much to tell. Besides, if the alor accepts me, so should you.

CYERN

Look, seeing smoke and blood pouring out of a gaping hole in a meat-can’s armor is the only thing that gets me excited…not any thought of having to wipe your shebs. Vart and Turr’n may have bought your story, but it will take some time to convince the rest of us.

DRAK

Hey, you’re the one who brought it up, so don’t get all kaden (angry) at me for giving you an answer you didn’t like.

Cyern tries to protest, but turns away and sets another charge.

Drak sees it.

DRAK

Isn’t that one a bit large?

CYERN

Ne'johaa! (Shut up!)

Suddenly there is a noise in the darkness.

CYERN

Did you hear that?

DRAK

Yeah, I think so.

Cyern’s RF stalk lowers.

CYERN POV

The image in his T-visor changes to thermal imaging. Drak is seen clearly as a heat signature. But nothing else is picked up.

CYERN

I don’t see anything...but I feel – look out!

From a dark corner, a blaster bolt flies out and hits Drak in the abdomen.

Drak falls backward with a yelp.

Cyern spins in time to avoid a second bolt and fires his own weapon.

The blast hits the unseen blaster. A grunt of disgust is heard from the shadows.

CYERN

Come out, come out, whoever you are.

A black-armored hand reaches from the shadows and grabs the end of Cyern’s blaster, ripping it from his hands. The blaster swings and hits Cyern in the head, knocking his helmet off.

Then, a Shadow Scout steps into the light.

Cyern turns around to see the trooper holding his gun to his face.

TROOPER

Cyern Bahr. I thought it was you.

CYERN

Yes, I’m Cyern, but whoever you are, however you know my name…you won’t live long enough to tell your Imperial friends, chakaaryc (low-life).

TROOPER

Don’t tell me you don’t sense who I am.

CYERN

Why should I? I’m only seeing your head rolling on the floor and your buy’ce as a trophy on my wall.

TROOPER

Such talk from someone who can’t even stand to look at his own reflection.

CYERN

How did –

TROOPER

Oh, I know, because I am the same…brother.

CYERN

You’re not my brother. He’s dead.

The trooper removes his helmet. It really is Cyern’s twin brother.

TROOPER

Not yet.

CYERN

Gareth? But how? Why? I thought you were dead?

GARETH

I might as well be, after what I’m about to do.

He hands back Cyern’s weapon, and then hands him a small device.

CYERN

This is a detonator.

GARETH

Yep. I’ve already rigged the place myself.

CYERN

How did you know?

Gareth taps his head.

GARETH

You may have chosen to tune me out and shield your Jedi senses when you became a Mandalorian, but I let it work for me to get what I need.

There is a groan from the corner.

CYERN

Oh, osik. I forgot about Drak.

Cyern and Gareth help Drak get to his feet.

GARETH

He’ll be alright. It was nothing more than a stun blast.

DRAK

Easy for you to say. That hurt like haran.

CYERN

Come on. Let’s get you out of here.

INT: MAIN AREA

Cyern enters helping Drak, who is still unsteady on his feet.

TRACY’UUR

What happened to you?

DRAK

Him.

He points behind the two of them to Gareth, who steps out of the shadows.

Tracy’uur instantly reacts and has his beskad at Gareth’s throat in the blink of an eye.

CYERN

Wait! Stop!

TRACY’UUR

Give me a good reason to!

He then sees Gareth’s face and is taken aback.

TRACY’UUR

What is this?!

CYERN

He’s my twin brother.

TRACY’UUR

You never mentioned that you had a brother, much less that he’s an Imp scum.

CYERN

You never asked. Besides, I thought he was dead.

DRAK

Apparently he’s not.

TRACY’UUR

Thank you Captain Obvious!

AXON

Okay, so we’ve established that you have a twin brother. Would you care to explain how you ended up a Shadow Scout and just so happened to be here at precisely the time we arrived.

GARETH

(to Cyern)

Did you tell them that you used to be a Jedi?

CYERN

Only enough to say that it was a lot safer for me and them if I didn’t advertize it.

GARETH

But you didn’t completely give up on it.

CYERN

The last thing I want is for Vader to find me, so I don’t use it until I absolutely need it. Like when someone tries to get the jump on me.

GARETH

Yeah, sorry about that. I didn’t want you to blast me either.

TRACY’UUR

So what do we do with you?

GARETH

What do you mean?

TRACY’UUR

I mean, I don’t think we can let you live to go telling the Imps what we did, or even try to stop it.

CYERN

You won’t do anything.

TRACY’UUR

Oh, come on Cyern! Don’t make this one of those convenient times to use that mind trick osik on me!

CYERN

I’m not, di’kut! You wouldn’t have been able to say no if I did.

TRACY’UUR

Then give me a good reason not to turn his buy’ce into a soup bowl.

GARETH

Because I’m the one who set the charges to blow this place to hell before you even got here.

CYERN

And he gave me the detonator to do it.

Cyern holds up the detonator.

DRAK

How can you be sure that will work?

AXON

I for one don’t intend to stick around to find out.

GARETH

Well said.

CYERN

Axon, are you finished?

AXON

Absolutely.

CYERN

Then let’s get out of here.

One by one they don their helmets and make their way to the exit.

Suddenly, Cyern’s communicator comes to life.

CYERN

Go ahead, Jaiden.

JAIDEN

(on the communicator)

We’ve got trouble. I’m picking up a squad of Imperials coming your way…and they’ve got some heavy equipment, too.

DRAK

Oh, osik.

EXT. COMM BUNKER

Dozens of Storm Troopers are seen converging on the bunker. An AT-ST walker sits close by.

CYERN

(V.O.)

Who’s our company?

JAIDEN

(V.O.)

Looks like…shab. It’s Makazie Squad.

INT. BUNKER

TRACY’UUR

Haar’chak! Someone tipped them off. I think it was you, Imperial duse! (rubbish)

GARETH

No! I’m trying to help you!

AXON

Cuy ogir'olar! (It’s irrelevant!) It could have been that alarm I though I stopped in time.

CYERN

Either way, we need to figure out how we’re getting out of here.

GARETH

There is a way, but it’s not going to be easy.

DRAK

Anything’s better than being slotted by those meatcans.

TRACY’UUR

For once, I agree with you.

EXT. BUNKER BACK DOOR

The door slides open and Tracy’uur looks out cautiously. He motions and the rest of the group exits as well.

Gareth pulls Cyern to the side.

GARETH

I can’t go with you.

CYERN

What? Why?

GARETH

I’m on a different path, brother. I have a job to do.

CYERN

You can do the same thing with us.

GARETH

No I can’t and you know it. I can be more effective behind enemy lines.

CYERN

Will we ever cross paths again?

GARETH

I don’t know. I can’t see that future for us.

They shake hands. Cyern runs off with the Mando’s and Gareth runs around to the front.

GARETH

(O.S.)

They’re heading south! After them!

AXON

Good thing we’re heading north.

TRACY’UUR

Are we clear enough?

CYERN

We should be. But I would feel better if we were back on the ship first.

TRACY’UUR

I hope you’re brother was telling the truth.

CYERN

So do I-

Cyern stops suddenly.

AXON

What’s wrong?

CYERN

We’re not alone.

TRACY’UUR

Where?

CYERN

Move!

Suddenly, a black-cloaked figure drops down from the trees.

It is a Sith.

TRACY’UUR

I thought Vader and the Emperor were the only ones.

SITH

You thought wrong.

The Sith ignites his saber.

Drak begins to fire at the Sith, who deflects the bolts with ease. One bolt bounces back at Drak and hits him in the shoulder. He falls.

DRAK

Osik!

Tracy’uur inspects the hit. It didn’t go through.

TRACY’UUR

You’ll be fine.

CYERN

You guys fall back. I’ll handle this.

AXON

Are you sure?

CYERN

No…but what choice do we have?

Cyern approaches the Sith – weapon drawn.

SITH

I know what you are hiding.

CYERN

Too bad you won’t live long enough to tell Lord Vader.

SITH

Do you really think you can defeat me?

CYERN

I don’t think, chakaaryc… I know.

Cyern holsters his weapon and stands still. The Sith slowly closes the gap.

SITH

So disappointing. You would have made a great ally. Pity you choose not to defend yourself.

The Sith strikes, but Cyern deflects the blade with his gauntlet. The Sith looks honestly surprised.

CYERN

Beskar’gam. Bet Vader forgot to mention that in your training, didn’t he, shabuir?

Cyern gives the Sith a Keldabe Kiss. The Sith staggers back for a second, then tries to strike again. This time, he grabs the Sith’s arm and knocks the saber out of his hand…spinning around quickly to back hand the Sith, sending him into a tree.

Cyern grabs the Sith by the hair and pulls him up to standing.

CYERN

Mando’ade have been killing your kind for thousands of years.

He slams the Sith’s face into the tree again several times.

CYERN

When will you osik’la shebse ever get the picture?

The Sith Force-calls his saber back to him. He ignites it backwards and it catches Cyern at a weak point in his armor. Cyern staggers back and the Sith turns to face him.

SITH

I may not know about…what did you call it? Beskar game? But I do know how to find the weak point in any set of armor.

Cyern staggers and falls to his knees.

SITH

Time to die.

The Sith tries to strike with his blade, but Cyern again catches his arm. This time, though, Cyern brings up his other arm, extending his vibroblade at the same time, and catches the sith in the abdomen just below his ribs. The Sith gurgles.

CYERN

(struggling)

I may have weak points…but at least I have armor.

The Sith slumps over, dead. Cyern falls as well.

Tracy’uur goes over to see Cyern lying on the ground. Blood is pooling beneath him on the grass.

TRACY’UUR

Can you move? We’ll get you back to the ship.

CYERN

No. It’s bad.

DRAK

Then we can’t waste time. Let’s go!

CYERN

No! I’ll slow you down. Plus, the transmitter on the detonator got hit. It’ll only work in a two meter radius.

AXON

So what are you going to do?

CYERN

The only thing I can. I have to go back.

TRACY’UUR

No. There’s got to be another way. We all go home or none of us goes!

CYERN

There’s no time! It won’t be long before those Imps figure out we didn’t go south and they’ll be back. I’m the best choice and you know it.

AXON

He’s right. I wish he wasn’t, but he’s right.

DRAK

I’ll help him get there.

CYERN

Then you’ll get your shebs back to the ship and get the haran out of here.

TRACY’UUR

We’ll wait for you, but hurry up every chance you get.

DRAK

I will.

Tracy’uur and Drak help Cyern up. Tracy’uur grabs Cyern’s arm in a handshake.

TRACY’UUR

Gar nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la. (You will be not gone, merely marching far away.)

CYERN

Ori’vor’e, ner vode.

ALL

Oya manda!

Drak helps Cyern back towards the bunker.

TRACY’UUR

(softly)

Good luck.

EXT. MANDO SHIP

Everyone is entering the ship loading ramp when Drak comes running up. Jaiden is standing in the hatchway.

JAIDEN

Is he set?

DRAK

(breathing heavily)

Yes. I hope.

Drak hands Cyern’s bucket to Jaiden.

DRAK

Here. He gave me this.

EXT. BUNKER

Cyern is leaning back against the front hatchway of the bunker. The squad of troopers returns and aim their guns at him.

TROOPER 1

Don’t move!

CYERN

Se darasuum kote.

As the troopers close in, One of them notices the detonator in Cyern’s hand. It is blinking.

TROOPER 2

Move! Everyone get back! It’s set to –

Before he can finish his sentence, Cyern presses the button on the device. A large explosion sends a fireball out from the door, which engulfs the troopers.

EXT. SKY

The Mando ship gains altitude away from the surface of the planet. Everyone looks out a window and sees the explosion.

Jaiden places Cyern’s bucket on a pole in front of the group.

ALL

(not at the same time)

Oya, Manda.

TRACY’UUR

Ni su'cuyi, gar kyr'adyc, ni partayli, gar darasuum. (I'm still alive, but you are dead. I remember you, so you are eternal.)

The ship enters space and heads off in the distance.

THE END.
